Cefn Druids manager Huw Griffiths has announced an initial 18-man squad for the club’s Europa League qualifying campaign.

The Druids manager said there are still two places up for grabs depending on performances in training ahead of the deadline of confirming the squad to UEFA later this month.

The squad includes new signings Richard Ackerley, Rees Darlington, Josh Dures, Gareth Edwards and Steve Jones but Max Peate is unlikely to be part of it as he still struggles against the injury he suffered at the end of last season.

The current 18 is:

Griffiths said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have the squad named, but there are still two spots up for grabs. There are exciting times ahead.

“There are some who will obviously be missing out and I’ve already had to tell a couple of them, which has been very difficult to do. I hated having to do it.”

Meanwhile the list of potential teams that Druids could face in Europe is now know.

The Ancients will be in the unseeded pot and could face one of 37 seeded sides.

Among them are Dutch side FC Twente, led by former England manager Steve McLaren, Polish side Lech Poznan and multiple Norwegian champions Rosenborg.

Other trips that could face Druids include Ireland, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Azerbaijan, Montengro, Sweden, Moldova, Croatia, Iceland and Luxembourg – among numerous others.
