Denbigh Town

Craig Vernon - Goalkeeper  29yr old Craig Vernon is a popular six footer who played at Chester Academy until the age of 19yrs when he moved to Caernarfon. Then further moves to Connahs Quay Nomads, Witton Albion and Northwich Victoria followed and then Bala where he has spent a number of years as second choice keeper to Ash Morris. An excellent keeper who is good in the air and on the ground with good mobility and distribution.

 Joel Hewitt- Defender.   Former Llandudno Junction captain who first joined Denbigh at the back end of 2017/18 season. Versatile across the back four as well as a wing back. Can be relied on to do a job as a defender and can support attacks.

 Miles Todd -Defender. Originally from Denbigh and now lives just down the road in St Asaph. He has played both Cymru Alliance and Welsh Alliance football playing previously for clubs such as Denbigh, Buckley, Ruthin and Llandyrnog and is another experienced defender. Returned to Denbigh at the back end of the 2017/18 season.

Tony Davies - Defender. Was part of our team that was involved in the brilliant The Word Cup [ WPL League Cup ] run two years ago when Denbigh Town reached the final. He has since been playing for Rhyl but returned to the Reds this season. He is an experienced defender who has played for Ashton United and Marine in the English system as well as Bala Town and Rhyl. Good tackler and very strong in the air.

 Curtis Langton - Defender.  Was at Everton Academy as a youngster and has had very short spells at Rhyl and Denbigh Town a few years ago. His quality shows on the pitch as he is powerful in the air, a strong tackler and a good passer of the ball. There are high hopes that Curtis will show everyone what he is capable of this season whilst turning out for Denbigh Town.

 Bailey Jackson - Defender He is a very strong, skilful left sided 21 yr old from the Wallasey area who has played Academy football from a very young age. As a child he was at Blackburn Rovers, before moving to Everton, Bolton, Liverpool, Tranmere Rovers, Chester and finally Airbus Broughton where he started playing senior football with the first team. Signed for Denbigh in June 2018

Sam Downey – Midfield   An excellent midfielder who is described as serious about his football, Sam is originally from the Lincoln area where played for Lincoln Academy before moving on to play for a number of different sides. He has played for North Ferriby Utd, Stamford AFC, Corby Town in the Conference North, Spalding Utd in the Evo Stik league and Rhyl.When he was around 20yrs of age he went to play in Sweden turning out for first division side Gallivare Malmbergets FF before moving to Iceland to play for Leiknir Reykavik. Signed for Denbigh at the start of the season.

Sam Jones – Midfield / Striker.   Sam has played for Denbigh previously and will always be remembered for scoring that winning goal that put Denbigh into the final of the WPL  League cup in the 2015/16 season. He has since played for Holywell, Ruthin and also Llanefydd in the Welsh Alliance. He is a very skilful, tricky left sided midfielder / forward who generally plays out wide and very capable of scoring goals.

Thomas Jones – Midfield. Tom has previously been with Rhyl, Ruthin and Llanefydd. Whilst at Rhyl under Gregg Strong he completed a trial period with Bolton Wanders before returning to North Wales. Tom is very comfortable on the ball playing in the middle of the Park. Both brother Sam and Thomas signed together for Denbigh in June. 

Scott McHarrie – Midfield.  18yr old Scott McHarrie has been with Wrexham Football club Academy from a very young age and captained the under 19yrs Youth Team. He has also played for Wrexham Reserves. A box to box midfielder with an eye for goal and an excellent range of passing.

Lewis Sirrell – Midfield. Lewis is a quality player able to play anywhere in the park but generally plays on the left. Originally from the North East and an ex Middlesborough acadamy. Has played for Gateshead as well as Ostersunds FK in Sweden. Since moving to North Wales has had short spells with Colwyn Bay and Llandudno Junction before signing this year for Denbigh Town. A good all round player with an excellent left foot.

Sam Tate – Midfield.  Sam Tate is a local Denbigh lad who thrives in the middle of the park. He can play passes with both feet as well as score goals.  Has consistently been one of the best players in the Reserve team in previous years winning a number of club awards. Limited number of first team appearances for one reason or another. Very good engine.

Ross Weaver- Midfield. Despite being only 21 yrs old Ross has a wealth of experience having been a Youth player and a professional at Wrexham AFC before joining Prestatyn. He played for the Seasiders when they won the Huws Gray Alliance league 2016/17 season and last term had a number of Welsh Premiership appearances. He can play in the middle of the defence or in midfield. Quality player who is able to stay calm under pressure and put his foot on the ball before making the pass.

Stuart Vernon . – Midfield.  Stu returns to the Club after brief spells at Oswestry Town and Llandyrnog Utd last season. Prior to that he played at Denbigh for many seasons and is capable of playing out wide as an out and out winger, whilst also having the ability to play in the number 10 role 

Sam Cartwright – Midfield . Sam is a left sided player who came through the Ruthin Town youth system and signed for Denbigh in 2016. He played with Llanllyfni for 2 seasons whilst studying at Bangor University. A powerful athlete with the ability to go past players at pace 

Jacob Walker – Striker.  Has played previously for Llannefydd in the Clwyd League and St Asaph in the Welsh Alliance and is taking a big step up to play for Denbigh in the Huws Gray Alliance. He is a natural goal scorer who can score with either foot or with his head not that he minds how they go in. Likes to play as a central target man but able to play anywhere along the front.  Eager to work hard to try and gain a place in the side.

Mark Roberts – Striker. Mark is a Denbigh lad, very well known throughout the area and has scored goals wherever he has played be it in the Cymru Alliance or Welsh Alliance leagues and has always been a popular player amongst the supporters and his team mates not least because of the effort he puts in during every game. He is a product of the Denbigh youth system initially breaking into the first team squad at the age of 16yrs. He has played for Denbigh Town previously as well as other clubs such as Buckley and Caernarfon and during the last two years played for our Welsh Alliance neighbours Llandyrnog Utd.

Dewi Llion Jones – Joint Manager. After 4 years as Academy Director and First Team Coach at Bala Town, Dewi joined Denbigh to assist Gareth Thomas and then Eddie Maurice-Jones, before taking the helm alongside Matty Jones this season as joint manager. Dewi is both a candidate on the UEFA A Senior coaching course and a Youth A Licensed coach aswell as holding a BSc in Sport Science & Football

Matty Jones – Joint Manager – Matty is a UEFA A Licence candidate and holds the FAW Trust Player Development Tier 2 coaching licence. He is currently Head of the Racecourse Community Foundation at Wrexham AFC. He was with ou Reserves several seasons ago and more recently coached and managed Llandudno Junction and Bala U19s with last season seeing him manager at Rhyl.

Pete “Bins” Lloyd – Assistant Manager. Pete returns to the Club after coaching at Llandyrnog Utd, Bro Cerynw, Llanwrst and most recently at Oswestry Town where he was Assistant Manager. Popular amongst both fans and players due to his passion towards the Club and his sense of humour
