Ruthin Town

Dylan Jones (Goalkeeper) (25) – Joined our youth system as a 11 year old in 2003 and has since developed into a really good goalkeeper who is an excellent shot stopper. Having broken into the first team two years ago after returning from university he had an excellent season last year and was voted into the Huws Gray team of the year last season.

Ryan Goldston (Goalkeeper) (18) – An excellent young goalkeeper and another who started as a 11 year old with Ruthin. He is also with Bala Academy and has spent time with Shrewsbury Town. Another great shot stopper who is outstanding with his feet. He was on the bench with Bala last year as they won the Welsh cup. He has a great deal of experience for such a young man.

Mathew Evans (Full Back) (20) – Joined as a 11 year old in 2008 and was an excellent prospect even then. A pacy full back who can also play at centre back. A very good player, university commitments limited his game time last year.

Jak Newell (Full Back) (25) – Strong tackling defender who put himself in the firing line every time. Another fine player who has come through our youth system and continuous to develop into a first class defender.

Elliott Slade (Full Back) (30) – Elliott was part of our promotion winning team and has returned to the club this season. An excellent full back he can also play at centre back or in midfield. An experienced player who is good on the ball, calm and controlled in posession.

Adam Harvey Davies (Full Back) (20) – Joined Ruthin at the age of 11 in 2008 but was snapped up by Wrexham two years later. He had 6 years at Wrexham before returning to the fold. A strong full back with good control and two good feet.

Isaac Rasell-Edwards (Full Back) (17) – Came up from the under 16’s last season and made a great impression. A quick full back with excellent distribution, he did really well last season when he started or came off the bench.

Matthew Williams (Full Back) (18) – Started with Ruthin Town Youth before joining Shrewsbury Town as a youngster. Another good full back with good close control and distribution. He can also play at centre back and has done well since joining the senior ranks he is also a Bala Town Academy player.

Kevin Evans (Centre Back) (35) – A cultured midfield player who has converted to centre back. Reads the game well, is comfortable on the ball with excellent distribution. One of the best players to play for Ruthin in recent years.

Will Ashley (Centre Back) (21)Will joined the club last season and made an immediate impression. He covers the ground well, reads the game has good distribution with two good feet, he had an excellent season last season.

Tom Sharples (Centre Back) (30)Tom joined the club at 11 and has developed into a good strong centre back who can also play in midfield and up front. Has experience of playing for many clubs in the Vale of Clwyd and was the captain during our promotion winning year. A leader, both on and off the field

Mike Sharples (Centre Back) (28) – Tom’s younger brother. Another youth player with Ruthin. He has re-joined the club this season having had a period with both Denbigh and Rhyl. A player with Welsh Premier League experience Mike is a dominant centre half who can also play a bit. Good in the air and on the gound Mike is a big signing for us this season.

Chris Williams (Player Manager) (33) – Another midfield player who has converted to centre back, reads the game well, two footed and a good tackler, a leader on and off the field and an excellent player. Joined the club as a 11 year old and has a great deal of experience having played for many clubs in the Vale of Clwyd and beyond.   

Osian Davies (Midfield) (22) – A young midfielder who plays with maturity, good feet, strong in the tackle and a good engine. He can play in the centre or as a wide man and had a really good season last year culminating in him winning the managers player of the year award.

Craig Wilkinson (Midfield and assistant manager) (34) – Joined Ruthin as a 11 year old in 1994 and went on to join Cefn Druids at 16 and then Preston North End. A very good player with two good feet and exceptional close control who gets his fair share of goals. He has plenty of experience and can play at full back, midfield or just off the striker.

Ilan Hughes (Midfield) (24) – Club captain and a popular figure within the club. Mature for his years Ilan is an excellent midfeld player with a good touch and a wide range of passing. He dictates the pace of our game and won the players player of the year award last year.

Tom Roberts (Midfield) (26) – A new signing , Tom has had time out from football whilst studying for a degree. As a youngster he started at Ruthin before moving on to Manchester United then more recently played at Telford , Rhyl and won the Welsh premier league with TNS. Extremely skilful left sided player who is comfortable in many roles and is another big signing for us this season.

Sam Jones (Midfield) (22) – A skilful wide man who re-joined the club from Holywell toward the end of last season. Sam has a good touch, is able to take people on and create chances for others whilst scoring goals himself - he can be a real match winner.

Edward Jones (Midfield) (24)  – Another new signing who has joined from his home club Llannefydd where he enjoyed an excellent season last season. He is Sam’s elder brother and a  versitile player who is comfortable on the ball. Predominantly a very good midfielder Ed can also slot into a defensive role.

Gwion Owen (Midfield) (22) – Has re-joined the club from home town club Llannefydd Gwion is a highly skilfull player who can take people on. Another who can chip in with goals whilst making them for others. Another good signing for us this year.

Jordan MacCarter (Striker) (26)Another who joined the club at 11. Jordan is a robust, strong running striker who shoots on site. He has had experience of playing in New Zealand and is a real handful for any defence. He made a big contribution last season and was the club’s top scorer.

Garmon Hafal (Striker) (27) - Another product of our youth system Garmon has developed into a top class player with pace and power who can play on the left or up front. An experienced player who has played in the Mid Wales, Wrexham Area and North Wales Coast leagues as well as an experienced Huws Gray Alliance campaigner.

Llyr Morris (Striker) (21) - Joined Ruthin as a 11 year old in 2007 and was a great prospect even then. He has since developed into an excellent striker. With good close control he can take people on and shoot with both feet. He keeps defenders on their toes and links well with other players. He is now a really effective striker.

Will Owen (Striker) (17) – A great prospect and another who came up from the u16’s last year. A Bala Town Academy player who is strong, fast and with a great shot for such a young man. He did really well last season and we have high hopes for Will developing into a real player.
